Stan Zegel: Political Hack
We are clearly making Winfield’s Citizen Pain, Stan Zegel, crazy by contacting his advertisers. Remember: We want Stan to have to fund the mailing and printing costs out of his own pocket. To that end we need to step up the campaign a notch.
I realize that some of you don’t want to spend the time or go through the conflict of calling each of these advertisers yourself. So I have compiled a list of email addresses for the advertisers in Zegel’s rag. If you find yourself motivated, all you have to do is copy the list and paste it into your email in the “TO:” spot. Then send a very polite email explaining to these unsuspecting entrepreneurs what kind of crazy man Zegel is and how he has been so toxic to our little town. While you are at it, email Zegel and me. It would be nice to know how many of these letters went out. I have included our emails in the list below.

I read Stan’s letter regarding the whole tortious interruptus thing or whatever it was, I googled it, and I came away thinking that it is 100% MY RIGHT as a consumer to choose whose business I patronize and whose business I choose NOT to patronize.
I agree that some businesses might have been suckered into free advertising, and so I do NOT choose the wholesale boycott option. I saw the Register for sale at a local biz today, for $1.00. When I asked why they were even selling it, the guy behind the counter was like “what????” but he clearly was just an employee.
It is my right to let a business know that I do not appreciate where they are placing their advertising dollar, and it doesn’t have one darn thing to do with Winfield411. In fact, WITHOUT THIS WEBSITE, I would have stopped shopping at those establishments altogether. But BECAUSE of this website, I’ll give them a short term pass, let them know what I think, and then I’ll make a decision next time this slander rag hits my mailbox.
This blog site IS NOT interfering with the rag’s ability to secure advertising – it’s allowing us a forum to voice consumer opinion about it – and it’s the content of that “paper” that is shooting itself in the foot with the potential advertisers.

I propose a different approach.
Encourage the advertiser to hold Stan accountable for being balanced, with minimal editorial, week-by-week. I can write criteria. Stan would find money regardless of our actions to keep publishing, and then, through others find a way to hurt them.
LeRoy – you’ve got to be kidding? I don’t trust Stan as far as I can throw him! The calls will continue to those businesses that choose to place ads and support his yellow journalism.
I will tell you a couple years ago my father tried that approach with Stan. My Dad went through an issue and highlighted all the points of his newspaper that were slanted and presented it back to him. Clearly it hasn’t changed his style of writing at all.

Sorry Leroy I really wish I could be proactive to change this twisted mans thoughts and thinking, but it really is a wasted breath. Faith is something we as clear thinking open minded adults try to use as a tool to stay sane. I think he does this to make all of us crazy and loose our focous. This way he feels he distracts us from completing our tasks. Our town is a mess with no plan in place to keep us from drowning even further into NO CHANGE. The twisted man takes good and makes it look evil or incorrect. His writing style becomes believable to those who are not paying attention. He has all the time in the world to create problems and twist the issues. Stan is a bully and a misleading writer to keep the people in Winfield that are not paying attention to become followers right into his hands. Or in my view off a cliff and then they wake up after the fact. Leroy, please becareful of his wit and ways, they will bite hard and can be fatal. He has no worries because no one has be able to change his spots. I really believe he sleeps with Satan. I have yet to see him complete anything good for Winfield.
We need to rid ourselves of Zegel and all his WU cohorts. It’s because of the all of them the town is in such turmoil.
