Survey of Dems’ Most Loved Republicans: A Target List

The Hill conducted its annual survey of how congressmen feel about each other and the answers are instructive. The survey found that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D. Calif.) is the most partisan, unwelcoming, hard to work with politician in all of the House of Representatives. But the list of Republicans that congressional leftists love should serve as the list of those voters should fire in November and after. (And Illinoisan Judy Biggert seems to lead the pack)

The Hill, however, did have an interesting point on why the extremist, left-wing, loud, hectoring, shrill Pelosi has been able to so easily get her anti-American policy agenda through Congress. She has a willing and able assistant in Steny Hoyer (D, Md.), a man that many congressmen like and find not to be the wholly leftist ideologue that Pelosi is.

As The Hill puts it, it’s sort of a good-cop-bad-cop relationship. The shrill Pelosi makes her extremist demands but it is the smooth, seemingly moderate Hoyer that gets people to sign on to those demands.

Of course, this whole survey proves the lie to the claim that Hoyer is a moderate. After all, if he truly was a steadfast conservative Democrat he wouldn’t be acting the convincer to Pelosi’s extremist agenda and helping her get every far, far left idea of her dreams made into law.

This survey should also help Republicans see some of whom they might want to be getting rid of. By marking which Republicans that Democrats think are “easy to work with” we can see which Republicans are not Republicans but are instead an ever hated RINO (Republican In Name Only).

The Hill marks these congressmen as those that Democrats like most:

  • Judy Biggert (Ill.)
  • Bob Inglis (S.C.)
  • Walter Jones (N.C.)
  • Steven LaTourette (Ohio)
  • John McHugh (N.Y.)
  • John Mica (Fla.)
  • Ron Paul (Texas)
  • Lee Terry (Neb.)
  • Fred Upton (Mich.)
  • Bill Young (Fla.)

There is only one reason why Democrats would love these folks: it’s because they are reliable votes against their own party.

So, this survey from The Hill is quite instructive. It gives us the congressmen that are most ideologically driven and helps us know which ones have no principles at all. Kudos to The Hill.

Political Districting of Winfield; A Call to Action

If you are a regular reader of Winfield411.com you know we are working on a few reoccurring themes. The goal of which is ultimately to change the Village of Winfield into a better place where the budget is balanced, the government services are delivered and the people are happy. I believe the only way this can happen is with political districting. I would like to write a series of articles about districting for Winfield411.com in the upcoming months. This blog post is about a different subject though, it’s about money. If you are a regular reader here you know Winfield411.com is a meeting place for people and minds that believe the village has been co-opted by Winfield United. Over this summer my plan is to use this blog to write articles that link:

  1. A lack of sustainable revenue to the deferred maintenance of our roads.
  2. Deferred maintenance to the tune of $17 million (total) dollars for the road referendum.
  3. The $17 million road referendum to our village board.
  4. Our village board to Winfield United.
  5. Winfield United to protecting Roosevelt Road.
  6. Protecting Roosevelt Road to a lack of sustainable revenues.
  7. (Rinse and Repeat)

In order to effectively get this job done we are going to need money to direct mail the entire village. I have a flier I would like to mail out which is downloadable from this website. Please take a moment to download Political Districting of Winfield; A Call to Action and review what I have written. I am going to need about $2000 to get it in the hands of all the Winfield residents. I am asking for your help, support and donations so that we can stop Winfield United from running our village into the dirt.

The flier will double as an advertisement for Winfield411.com as it should. There are many people in this town that have no idea the website exists and if we are to be successful in our quest to change Winfield we need to have a venue for communicating with the residents without having to drop $2K every time we want to do it. There is also an advertisement for The Winfield Debate Club which is a way for people to meet face to face to hash out differences of opinion.

I am asking for whatever you feel you can donate but I am suggesting $50. There is no real organization behind this so basically we are taking checks or cash. If you would like to send a check, please send it to:

If you want to meet me somewhere I would be glad to do that as well.

This is grass roots political activism people. It’s time to see if we are all about being quietly cranky online or if we have what it takes to bring this fight to the people. The choice is yours.

Obama’s Stimulus a Failure

On the one-year anniversary of the federal stimulus, U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam, a DuPage Republican, said the enormous expense has been a failure.

Roskam said President Obama promised unemployment would remain below eight percent, yet the national average is 10 percent and Illinois has an unemployment rate of 11 percent. He said the stimulus is a failure that created next to zero jobs.

Some Stimulus Facts:

  • Illinois’ unemployment rate has risen from 8.6 percent to 11.1 percent since the “stimulus” passed. The Obama Administration projected 148,000 Illinois jobs would be created or saved by the “stimulus.”  According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Illinois has lost 171,400 jobs since then.
  • According to the Obama Administration, it has cost taxpayers $686,000 per job created in Illinois by the stimulus. More than $7.7 billion has been spent, with under 11,300 jobs created or saved through February 10, 2010.
  • According to the Obama Administration, it has cost taxpayers $1.5 million per job created in Illinois’ 6th district by the stimulus. More than $138 million has been spent with only 89 jobs reported created or saved.
  • CBS News/New York Times survey released last week found that just six percent of Americans believe Democrats’ trillion-dollar ‘stimulus’ has created jobs.

Yesterday, Democratic Sen. Evan Bayh said this: “If I could create one job in the private sector by helping to grow a business, that would be one more than Congress has created in the last six months.”
